The Chiba Line is a railway line operated by Nantetsu in eastern Haebaru. It links Shin-Haebaru and Iwate, traveling on the Haebaru main Line for the majority of it's service.
Operation
The Chiba Line is officially a branch line off the Haebaru Main Line after Higashi-Reihoku, although the tracks diverge from the line only shortly before Kamichiiba Station, after the tunnel.
From Shin-Haebaru to Nagaremaya, Local Trains run every 30 minutes, and Limited Express and Express Through trains to the Ome Line run every 30 minutes as well. The line is single-tracked from Chiiba to Iwate, although the section from Nagaremaya to Iwate is in effect double-tracked, with one track owned by Aotetsu and the other by Nantetsu. Aotetsu does not allow more than 2 trains per hour to run through the double-tracked section, so only Express and Limited Express trains continue through to Iwate.
