The Sunrise Yamagawa is an overnight sleeping car Limited Express train service operated by the Ome Railway Company since November 2013.

Operations

Pre 2018

The Sunrise Yamagawa ran daily between Tai Hing Forest in Tai Hing to Yamagawa Station in Sorano, passing through Joban in the process. Border checks are only required on those who have purchased tickets to alight in Joban.

The Sunrise Yamagawa departed from Tai Hing Forest, going via the Ome Line to Misato, then Mihara, Ome, Central South, North Esplanade and then finally reaching Yamagawa. The Sunrise Yamagawa runs on the Ome Line, North-South Line and Pak Hoi Line. Service was suspended from June 2022 to facilitate repair works in Lamtsu, as well as the construction of the Misato-Mihara Bypass Viaduct.

Occasionally, the Sunrise Yamagawa may start from Hakone and travel along the Mihara Line to start, during the Hakone Tea festival.

Post-2018

After the Joban Border Control Act of 2018, the Ome Line from Fukuchiyama to Central South was shut down. Sunrise Yamagawa services now end at Ome.

In 2022, with the opening of the Seiyo Main Line branch to Lighthouse Front, Sunrise Yamagawa Services may start from Hakone, going via the Seiyo Main Line to Misato, before switching to the Misato Freight Line and then to the Vtuber Park Line, and then continuing to Ome on the bypass viaduct.

Services

The Sunrise Yamagawa departs Tai Hing Forest every day from any time between 6.30 to 7pm. Stations following Mihara are Alighting Stations only.

The Sunrise Yamagawa, despite being a Limited Express, charges normal fares for travelling. however, due to the difference in fare zone calculation from Lamtsu to Joban, passengers were strongly encouraged to purchase a Single-Ride ticket.
