In 2023 Lamtsu Metro offered to buy the Kujukuri and Sakuho Lines from Shimakyu, which would allow them to connect lines into Misato, which until now is still not served by any Lamtsu Metro lines. The proposed plan would rebuild the Kujukuri Line at Tsubetsu (which was a single terminating platform) and extend the line down to Ginza, the central station for the Lamtsu Metro. The Sakuho and Kujukuri Lines would then be merged with a single service from the Sakuho Line to Ginza via the Kujukuri Line. This likely will go forward as Shimakyu is not interested in running underground lines, as it requires extra maintenance equipment and specialised staff. As Lamtsu Metro already has both of these in abundance, the line may start turning a profit either directly or indirectly.

History

The Lamtsu Metro is a private company established in 1973 to build and operate subway and underground lines in Lamtsu. The Meguro Line, built in 1973, was the first line to be built by the company. It was built using tunnel boring machines as the line ran somewhat deep. The Yurakucho Line was constructed in 1978.

In 1986, Lamtsu metro was privatised and the Otaki and Ginza Lines were bought from Shimakyu, who had just faced a massive lawsuit after a derailment on the Ginza Line that killed 13 people.

The Rinkai Line was built in 2006 to provide better transport for the waterfront districts of Lamtsu, and planned to complete a loop service with the Yurakucho Line via Misato-Wan-Kita. However, due to issues with Land Aquisition, this plan did not come to fruition. The line was also a direct competitor to the Ome Line for transport to Lamtsu, and after the Ome Line was converted to a heritage line, it became the main method of transport to and from Sora.

The Otaki and Fukaaura Lines were merged into the Otaki Line in April 2023.
