Station Classification is a method of classifying stations depending on their status to help planners determine what services will stop and what passenger traffic amounts to plan for. Only HRT Lamtsu officially uses Station Classification, although other companies may also use the systems in unofficial announcements.

II | All | All | Class II stations serve as the primary directional terminal station for a certain area. All long-distance services must end service at this station, excluding those with through service to a Class I station. This station must serve all the long distance lines from the direction it is built in. Through services are only allowed for Commuter lines. III | All | All | Class III stations serve as the primary rail terminal for a city that is not Lamtsu, Sakura or Ngo Tin. IVa | All excluding L. Express | Normal | Class IVa stations are stations that serve as major transport hubs and fall within the purview of an Urban Area. IVb | All | All | Class IVb stations are stations that have a Shinkansen Stop and a stop on another line, and fall within the purview of an urban area. As long as the station has a connection to more than one line, the station is counted as a Class IVb station, with the exception being feeder lines. Va | All excluding L. Express | Normal | Class IVa stations are stations that serve as major transport hubs despite being in relatively remote areas. Vb | All | All | Class IVb stations are stations that have a Shinkansen Stop and a stop on another line. As long as the station has a connection to more than one line, the station is counted as a Class IVb station, with the exception being feeder lines. VI | All excluding L. Express | Normal | Class V stations are stations in urban areas, which are legally defined as within the confines of a city, that connect to 2 lines, both which cannot be below the class of Commuter.
