The Kujukuri Line is a passenger railway service in Lamtsu that commenced in 2022. Before the 2015 Misato Strait Collapse, the line ran from Moseushi to Kaminoseki as a railway line on it's own tracks. The line and service have taken many forms over the years, with the current service being from SMRT Misato to Tsubetsu. The service runs through the remaining portion of the original Kujukuri Line, and the Sakuho Line from Moseushi to SMRT Misato.

History

The Kujukuri Line was one of the first railway lines to be built in Lamtsu. The original railway line was built in the 1970s, from Moseushi to Kaminoseki. The line required the construction of a long wooden viaduct from Tsubetsu to Kaminoseki, bridging the Misato Strait to Tai Hing Island. The line fared quite poorly economically, and the economic failure of this line marked the failure of the first great period of railway expansion in Lamtsu, with MCR's profits dropping by 30%. However, due to the idealistic policies of it's founder, the line was not shut down. Upon HRT (Lamtsu)'s aquisition of MCR, services ran as through services from Kaminoseki to the end of the Sakuho Line.

On the 20th of May 2015, a huge storm wrecked the central portion of the wooden viaduct. A Sakuho-Kujukuri Line train travelling on the viaduct had been mistakenly cleared for departure, despite the raging storm. The signalling system did not manage to relay the issue to the train, due to the lack of track circuits on the route. By the time the driver saw the damaged bridge, there was nothing that he could do except launch the emergency brakes. The first 3 cars plunged into the water, with the remaning 4th car left dangling precariously on the edge. The accident was the 3rd worst of all the rail accidents in Lamtsu history, with 45 deaths and 12 injuries.

The rest of the viaduct later completely collapsed, prompting HRT Lamtsu to shut down operations in the east of Tai Hing island. The Hakone Ropeway was instead constructed in it's place, which was split off to Lamtsu Railway Transit.

After the breakup of HRT Lamtsu in 2022, The Kujukuri Line and Sakuho Line were handed over to Misato Rapid Transport, who has stated their intention to rebuild the viaduct to the east of Tai Hing. The Kujukuri Line was split from the Sakuho Line at Misato instead of Moseushi, and new tunnels have been built for the turn back sidings at SMRT Misato.
