Twinkle

Twinkle (閃爍) is one of the 3 train services running on the Seiyo Shinkansen. Stopping at every station, the Local Service Twinkle is the slowest Shinkansen Service for trips plying the entire line. The Twinkle services are generally used for shorter distance trips like Lamtsu to Tai Hing, due to their infrequent runs in comparison to the other 2 Shinkansen services. Travelers between the major rail hubs of Lamtsu and Central South generally tend to opt for the Rapid Twilight of the Express Galaxy, which take fewer stops. The name has no special significance to the route that it plies.

Shinkansen Twinkle

Twinkle as a Shinkansen Service generally runs once for every 4 Galaxy Services, which alternate with Twilight Services. One train leaves every hour.

There are no significant design differences between the Rolling Stock used on the Twinkle as with the other 2 services, all of which share the Series 901 Shinkansen, or the H1 Shinkansen. After this, Harmony Rail Transit would begin to identify the Shinkansen Rolling Stock using the prefix for the locale (H-Joban, HE/E-East of Lamtsu, HW/W-West of Lamtsu).

All seats on the Twinkle are non-reserved. Any form of payment is accepted for Twinkle rides, and those within Joban do not amount a surcharge. For those that lead to Lamtsu, the payment will still be recognized, but close to a $30 surcharge will be imposed due to the difference in station zone calculations. As such, commuters are encouraged to purchase a Single Ride Ticket instead.

History

The initial "Twinkle" was a Limited Express service operated by Harmony Rail Transit (Joban) on the Fung Yuen Line, before it was renamed to simply "Express" with the announcement of the Seiyo Shinkansen and the services that would run.
