The Hakone Line was a railway line from Tai Hing to Otaki (Hakone). In the public eye, the Hakone Line is part of the Mihara Line and appears so on system maps, but internally it is referred to as a seperate line of it's own, and therefore the ridership numbers for this line are much inflated over the statistics for the Hakone Line service. Station Codes take the MH prefix (Mihara) due to the fact that these codes are not used internally. However, Hakone Line services do use the HK code for stations not serviced by the Mihara Line.
Hakone Line services ended on 20th July 2022, with the last train leaving from Otaki Station at 8pm that night. From the time of the announcement on 19th July to the last train on 20th July, more than 25,309 tickets were purchased for the line, meaning that more commuters used the line on those 2 days than in an average year.
